The Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Arkady Dvorkovich, stressed that Russia will not allow genetically modified organisms in the production of foodstuffs; overlooking the related trend in Europe and the US on Friday.
“The case of genetically modified organisms (GMO) is not a question that is easy to answer, but we decided: We will not produce products that contain GMOs,” the minister told reporters during his visit to the Agricultural Fair BioKirov-2015, last week.
At the same time, he stressed that it was essential to draw a clear dividing line between the decision, which “will not be deceived at any time”, and the developments in scientific research. These are needed in other sectors, such as medicine. “It is an easy matter. We will make a clear separation between the two, in order to create a legal-framework,” Dvorkovich concluded.
