Turkey and Iran agreed to boost economic ties and trade without US Dollar


Trade between Turkey and Iran will in future be conducted via the national currencies of both countries, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday. Turkish President Recep Tayyip is currently on a state visit to Iran.

Both presidents have agreed to increase the volume of trade between Turkey and Iran to 30 billion US dollars. The current trading volume is 10 billion US dollars. President Rouhani added that Turkey wants to import more gas from Iran.

Three customs crossings between Turkey and Iran will be open 24 hours a day,“Rouhani said. Trucks travelling between the two countries suffer from long waiting times and queues. Erdogan said that Turkey and Iran have agreed to revitalise their financial sectors through cooperation between central banks.
